Welcome to the Chop Shop!

I'm Richard Blackburn – a Berlin-based film and television editor and member of the British Film Editors (BFE), with over twenty years of experience in post-production.

Born in Scotland and raised in Wales, I developed a passion for filmmaking early on, which led me to study Film at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. It was there that I refined my post-production skills through short films and found my calling in editing and visual storytelling.

I started my career at Zero DB, a London-based production company and post house, before going freelance and building a career cutting action, thriller and genre projects for UK and US productions on both sides of the Atlantic. For the past decade I've been based in Berlin, working remotely with British, European and American teams – integrating seamlessly into existing workflows across time zones.

Alongside editing I bring additional expertise in VFX, motion graphics and graphic design, working across DaVinci Resolve, Avid, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
